Description
The 441 stainless steel sheet is an 18% chromium, dual stabilized ferritic stainless steel with corrosion resistance similar to that of 304/304L. This grade may be used in the annealed, cold-formed, or as-welded condition in applications where other stainless steels, such as grade 304/304L and sheet 430, are used. It has good weldability due to titanium and niobium stabilization and has excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking. It outperforms sheet 409 in oxidation and corrosion resistance, and typical applications include automotive manifolds and exhaust system components. The high-temperature strength of sheet 441 stainless steel exceeds that of both sheet 439 and 409
Processing:
Cold forming with a small degree of deformation is easily feasible at temperatures higher than room temperature. Sheets with larger thicknesses and higher degrees of deformation should be preheated up to 200 to 400°C. Hot forming or annealing colors affect the corrosion resistance after welding or scaling.
